Seattle and Everett, WA in 24 hours

A whirlwind research trip to the Seattle area with one of my friends, who wanted to tag along. A massively successful trip, both for my research, and for the knowledge gained by experiencing Seattle – even just for a day. I can’t wait to go back. “Spokane to Seattle, WA” Mrweinstein’s photos around Seattle, United States
A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Seattle, United States by TravelPod blogger Mrweinstein titled “Spokane to Seattle, WA” Mrweinstein’s travel blog entry: “Seattle Day I So today’s drive was a very nice one, albeit strange. Let me explain. You see, when the word desert is mentioned what areas of the country come to mind? Arizona? New Mexico? South Jersey? Sure! All of those are acceptable areas. What about Washington State? Ya know, the one where they grow all of the apples. Do you think of vast expanses of desert there? No of course not because you’re a rational person. However, myself…Jen…and all of you have forgotten something very important: Geography. You see, the Cascade Range (mountains) divides Washington State into east and western parts. HOWEVER…as this weather moves west it collides with the mountains which essentially block most moisture from making it to the other side! Because of this, the western side of the mountains is a desert. Please check out the pictures if you don’t believe me. It’s complete with tumbleweeds, cactus, lots of taco restaurants, and yes…loads of sunburn. Almost immediately after hitting the top of the Cascade Range though..the desert turns into lush pine forests with rolling hills and beautiful lakes. This was the rest of the drive to Seattle. By the way…when did Seattle become so hilly? I think …
