Entry from: Florence, Italy Entry Title: “Florence, Tuscany and the Chianti Region” Entry: “What a great city! The Grand Hotel was just as I remembered it!! And the staff fantastic. We had a short train ride and arrived in the evening. The hotel recommended a local stop and we had a great family style meal. Since it was Sunday none of the spots that had been recommended to us were open. On Monday we hired a car and a driver and spent a wonderful day touring the country and the chianti region. The highlight was the wine, but the landscape and the time with our driver was also nice. He’s a body guard on the side and had some good stories for us. And he knows George Cloney!! Go figure. These pictures came out pretty well because the sun was shining. The landscape was fabulous. The next day was our last day in Florence (world wind tour) so we woke up early and went to the Accademia to see Michelangelo’s David. It was my second time and he did not disappoint. It’s just amazing to me that at age 26 Michelangelo was able to create such a masterpiece. We stayed there for quite awhile and just enjoyed his work. A few hours later—in the pouring rain we took the train to Venice. I hope to return to Florence again. It’s a great place and there’s never enough time to see all the sites and visit all the museum’s …
