“Viva Roma” Ryanandpatti’s photos around Rome, Italy (travel pics)

Preview of Ryanandpatti’s blog at TravelPod. Read the full blog here: www.travelpod.com This blog preview was made by TravelPod using the TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow creator. Entry from: Rome, Italy Entry Title: “Viva Roma!” Entry: “When in Rome…you will never find enough time to do everything there is to do, you will feel yourself developing emphysema from pollution and 2nd hand smoke, you will never want to live without a gelateria, you will smell bad, you will nearly walk your feet off, you will be surprised and awed, and you will never want to leave. At least I didn’t. Rome is definitely one of my favorite cities. The mixture of ancient and new is invigorating and beautiful while being real. The city has an amazing history, and there are many things and places to see, but it is still very much alive. Rome can be touristy, but a traveler doesn’t forget that people are still living their modern lives in the city that ruled for over 1000 years. Buses and subways run by the ruins of the colosseum. People talk on their cell phones in the Roman forum. Electric lighting runs through the catacombs. Cabs zoom down the Appian Way. I could go on and on, but you get the picture. Sights we saw: 1. The Colosseum Forum and Palatine Hill — The Forum, as I’m sure you know, was the seat of Rome’s government. There were basilicas, temples, markets, senate buildings, etc. Now, there are mostly only ruins, due to time and the quarrying of the marble by locals, but it is still

“America’s Frontier” Annamarie’s photos around Moab, United States (travel pics)

Preview of Annamarie’sblog at TravelPod. Read the full blog here: www.travelpod.com This blog preview was made by TravelPod using the TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow creator. Entry from: Moab, United States Entry Title: “America’s Frontier” Entry: “So after our time in Sonoma, we set off on the long journey to Moab. There was not a lot going on in the desert of northern Arizona. I think we were about to freak out because we were hungry and didn’t want ‘snack food’, yet could not find a restaurant…..Such is life. We ended up arriving near Canyonlands National Park in the early evening. We decided to check it out until it got dark. COOLEST PARK EVER. It has so many screwed up rocks and wild animals. I felt like i was on the frontier. It was super cool. We narrowly avoided several deer/animals. The strange rocks looked like one of the levels in the orignal super mario brothers.” Read and see more at: www.travelpod.com Photos from this trip: 1. “Nothing….is what we saw on the road” 2. “Random Rock” 3. “Cool Rock Art” 4. “Canyonlands 1″ 5. “Canyonlands 2″ 6. “Canyonlands 3″ 7. “Canyonlands 4″ 8. “Canyonlands 5″ 9. “Canyonlands 6″ 10. “Canyonlands 7″ 11. “Canyonlands 8″ 12. “Canyonlands 9″ 13. “Canyonlands 11″ 14. “Canyonlands 12″ 15. “Canyonlands 14″ 16. “Canyonlands 15″ 17. “Canyonlands 17″ See this TripWow and more at tripwow.tripadvisor.com

“Lewis & Clark Caverns” Havervwilltravl’s photos around Helena, United States (travel pics)

Preview of Havervwilltravl’s blog at TravelPod. Read the full blog here: www.travelpod.com This blog preview was made by TravelPod using the TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow creator. Entry from: Helena, United States Entry Title: “Lewis & Clark Caverns” Entry: “The rain in Helena turned into snow shortly after we woke up this morning. We decided that the best thing to do with lemons is to make lemonade, and the best thing to do with rain is to head inside to somewhere nice and dry — like a cave! About an hour south of Helena in Three Forks is a state park that gives two-hour tours of the Lewis & Clark Caverns. Lewis & Clark did follow the Jefferson River below the cave in 1805, but they did not notice the small entrance 1400 feet above the valley floor so it took several more years before the caves were officially discovered by another group. Later they were more thoroughly explored by a local miner who hand-carved 600 steps in the rock and started giving 12-hour cave tours to visitors by candlelight. Finally, 103 years after Lewis & Clark had passed them by, Teddy Roosevelt named them after that famous expedition and made them America’s 15th national monument. Today the tours take only 2 hours to complete. The original stone steps are still in use but the Montana State Park system has added concrete ones as well to cover about 40% of the cave on each tour. The original tours only reached about 25% of the cave, so obviously there has been significant discoveries inside the
