Rugby Test Match 2005 – Scotland vs. All Blacks
Murrayfield, Edinburgh – November 26, 2005. New Zealand completed an historic ‘grand slam’ of the home nations after a hard-fought win over a battling Scotland side at Murrayfield. Scotland claimed an early lead through a Chris Paterson penalty but the All Blacks took control with tries from Rico Gear, Nick Evans and Sione Lauaki. Scotland kept New Zealand at bay for most of the second half but Gear sealed the win with his second try. But the Scots got the try they deserved when Simon Webster dived over late on. New Zealand have also become the first team since Australia in 1984, and the first All Blacks side since 1978, to complete the ‘grand slam’. It also caps a superb year for Graham Henry’s men who also defeated the Lions 3-0 this summer as well as winning the Tri-Nations.
