Dire, Dortmund, Straits, Sultans, Swing
drums!!! the best drums of this song.
raw talents unpolished until past his 85-92 performances.
I was there in 1980, 30 minutes late because the bus driver knew a
shortcut….. Idiot lol.
best of the best !!!
takes me back in time
His voice sounds like Bob’s.
Only 20 ratings??? That is NOT right! This is a brilliant performance! And
even tho the song’s been played to death over what, 30 years now?,
including elevators no doubt (“lifts” to our cousins across the pond), this
is from when it was still relatively fresh, and the rendition shows it.
Just did my duty — 5′d & fav’d. Lend a hand?
I’ve heard quite a few versions of Sultans of Swing, all from the early
demos until today’s 15-minute two-part versions. Thanks to Youtube I can
now also discover another one of these “middle-era” ones with picture and
all. Possibly best rock song ever, together with Bohemian Rhapsody! Thanks
John Lennon was shot to dead 11 days before this presentation
the fills, pick makes are great, it´s a pity that he left the band shortly
after that tour …
This song needs no fucking keyboards or the bloody saxophone. Alan Clarke
with his keyboard & organ is really annoying, wish he would just stop
playing the keyboards specially in the final solo. Thank God Mark Knopfler
stopping using keyboards & sax in sultans. This songs needs nothing but
guitar, bass and drums.
I like this fast version. Its kicking ass!
Must be one of the first extended versions.
Pick Withers on drums, the original and best drummer they had.
I think it is one of the most unusual Sultans version Epic!
a little bit too fast, still great!
