On this day in 1974 {Dec. 28th} Gloria Gaynor performed “Never Can Say Goodbye” on the late Dick Clark’s ‘American Bandstand’
One month earlier on Nov. 2nd it entered Billboard’s Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #9 and spent 17 weeks on the Top 100
It reached #2 in the United Kingdom and #34 on Billboard’s R&B chart
Was originally recorded three years earlier in 1971 by the Jackson 5; their version peaked at #2 on the Top 100
Also in 1971 Isaac Hayes covered it; his version reached #22

Because the youth of today which accounts for most music related sales have been brainwashed to accept mediocrity in their lives. When I was a youth, it was smoke a joint, relax listen to Led Zeppelin or even do a line of blow and listen to stuff like this. Youth today use Ecstasy and want to dance all night and so that’s the type of music they listen to and buy. Difference btwn dance music today and yesterday is that yesterday, they had talent and were artists, today they are just performers.
UNO DE LOS TANTOS TEMAS ÉXITOS DE ESTA EXTRAORDINARIA CANTANTE AMERICANA, QUIEN NOS TRAE RECUERDOS DE NUESTRA ÉPOCAS DE DISCOTECA, HACE YA 30 AÑOS ATRÁS…. CUANDO TENÍAMOS 20 AÑOS…. GRACIAS POR RECORDARME GRANDES MOMENTOS DE ESTA MÚSICA QUE NUNCA MORIRÁ…
can’t we bring back disco and make another disco era today? because it’s really unfair that my parents got the chance to enjoy disco during its peak and i did not

I was six years old when this song came out. It brings back so many memories.
This is the beginning of Disco ! Great memories !
Indeed, he got little appreciation for being the bassman on Marvin Gaye’s Mercy Mercy Me and Inner City Blues.
Just one of many, inclluding Rubberband Man, Cool Jerk, Signed, Sealed, Delivered, etc., etc. I miss bassman Bob already.
I love this (instrumental) part: 2:52.
Yes, we can. Listen to Gloria Gaynor!
