Her father is “NOT” Mexican; he is Afro-Cuban. He is the brother of Shelia E. Look up Sheila and see her background. She and her brother are Cubans!
Nicole has a biological mother. It was not simply about what Peter wanted or her aunt! Nicole was with her mother until the age of eight. As for Sheilia E adopting Nicole, that is a very hard responsibility. Sheila is too free spiritied . God smiled on her, and she hit the jackpot with Lionel and Brenda. She is a star in her own rights because of her dad, who is at peace with her biological parents. My question is, how do you give your beautiful eight year old child up?

her biological father is Sheila E brother, peter. Thus making sheila e her aunt. nicoles parents agreed let her stay with richie and his wife since they could best support her. I dont know why shiela e did not adopt her own niece since her career was starting to take off financially about this time. this just does not make much sense to me, since the escovedo family is not poor, but i guess they were good friends with richie and his wife.
