Agree with belor1981, Lola is short for Dolores in all hispanic or latinamerican countries. I´m from México and we say Lola or “Lolita”, but Doloreres´name is not popular anymore. It was perhaps 50 to more years ago. And we say Lulú to Lourdes.
Well darling, at least in Spain an in all the spanish speaking countries, Lola is short of Dolores, don,t forget that Carlos Leon (her father) is from Cuba, and Cuba was an spanish colony from 1510 to 1898, most of the Cuban people has spanish relatives or spanish roots, and I repeat to you that Lola is short of Dolores (spanish name) Madonna can call her daughter Lola if she wants but that is not short of Lourdes. DARLING.

Lola is short name for Dolores, is an spanish name, I know well because my mother and my grandmother had that name.
I hope Lola is also getting to learn Spanish since, you know, her father is latino and all.
