I almost love this hat!,
I actually did a lot of searching online, looking for a hat for my dad. My dad works at an Auto Body Collision Shop, fixing cars -after he accidently hit his head at the edge of trunk of a car and was hurt for a month – I knew it was time to search for head protection. I searched and searched for head gear protection and/or standards to meet and only saw hard construction hats of ANSI/ISEA Z89.1 were suggested. My dad needed a lighter and more agile gear that still provided some protection while not being so noticeable at the work place.
That is where this hat comes into the picture! I came across this hat and realized it looks like a normal cap, meanwhile still providing hard hat protection on the inside. I ordered and got it really quick through mail (4 days before the expected arrival time!). I must say now that we have the hat, it really is what I expected!!
Although the product description says it does not meet ANSI/ISEA Z89.1 requirements, it is truly an excellent head gear for providing protection against common rough edges, small objects (like screwdrivers, etc) from impacting the head. My dad and I are pleasantly surprised at the look and feel of the hat and the coolness the hat provides. Tomorrow my dad is taking it to work and testing it out (he’s still healing from the accident) so is happy to have found that extra protection against common bumps. Thank you! (Also, love the color -it matches with my dad’s uniform, but gave it 4 stars because we were hoping to place the company’s name through embroidery but the front of the hat pops a little too much with the plastic from underneath that we cannot do this :

Good protection in confined spaces where safety helmet is not practical.
The only negative factor is your head sweating more.

|Better Than I Imagined,
I ordered this item after logging online to find a way to protect my noggin from an over-zealous racquetball partner who seems particularly fond of AIMING for a spot on the back of my skull when returning a serve! I wanted something that was not too heavy, comfortable enough to wear in an intense racquetball game (and secure enough of a fit to stay put), but still offered protection. I liked the look of this cap – it appeared from the online posting to be just a baseball cap with protection (I wear a ball cap when playing racquetball anyway), but I feared once I got it the item would look more like a hard hat trying to BE a baseball cap. No worries. Was VERY pleased when I unwrapped it, adjusted the velcro strap at the back (built like any other baseball cap) and put it on. It looks just like ANY OTHER baseball cap. You would have to seriously be looking at it really hard, and then only from the back, to even detect there is anything unusual about it.
Now I KNOW this isn’t in any way intended or marketed as a racquetball helmet (to my knowledge there IS NO SUCH THING as a racquetball helmet) and the seller didn’t make any representation that it’s a good use of it. I’m on my own using it for that purpose. But it’s going to do the trick for me – I put it on and whacked the back of the cap in the same spot I seem to often get hit by the ball and it offered solid protection against that kind of strike. Before I purchased this I looked at some of the “bump cap inserts” that are just basically plastic shells that can slip into ANY ball cap, but I liked that this particular cap had that shell PLUS some soft foam between the shell and my head to cushion a strike further if it were to happen.
By the way, the seller shipment was VERY SPEEDY – ordered it very late on a Sunday evening, had it in hand by Wednesday morning. Great value, fast shipment, very pleased with how nice a cap this is. I will buy from this seller again.
