Michael Bublé – Begin The Beguine
A rare one by the talented Mr. Michael Bublé. Please enjoy and feel free to comment. (I know the quality of the audio isn’t all that great but this is what I got) —————————————- Lyrics: When they begin the beguine It brings back the sound of music so tender, It brings back the days of tropical splendor, It brings back a memory ever green. I’m with you once more under the stars, And down by the shore an orchestra’s playing And even the palms seem to be swaying When they begin the beguine. To live it again is past all endeavor, Except when the tune clutches my heart, And there we are, swearing to love forever, And promising never, ever to part. What moments divine, what rapture serene, Till clouds came along to disperse the joys we had tasted, And now when I hear people curse the chance that was wasted, I know but too well what they mean; So don’t let them begin the beguine Let the love that was once a fire remain an ember; Let it sleep like the dead desire I only remember When they begin the beguine. Oh yes let them begin the beguine, make them play Till the stars that were there before return above you, Till you whisper to me once more, Darling, I love you! Then we’ll suddenly know, what heaven we’re in When they begin the beguine When they begin the beguine

I’m not sure, in the decade and more since this recording, that Buble’s trended/developed as strongly as an ‘aesthetic singer’ as this recording ‘predicts’… his voice has more to do with an ability to be ‘comfortable’ in many genres, however, one has to wonder if he’s sacrificed some of the instinctive technical purity and frankly emotive pathos he had as a ‘raw kid’… it’s a bit of a shame his best recorded ‘song production’ has to come in a Christmas album… he still has time though…
I agree. I think I get too attached to the original of any song (especially when a little drunk). You’re absolutely right, and while I don’t care for Michael Buble, this is a fine rendition.
I’m personally insulted by your lack of understanding with regards to an obviously superb randition to this 1935 classic…
I’m personally insulted by Mr. Bubble’s attempt at this song. Without Cole Porter and Ella Fitzgerald “backing him up” he sounds like a clown.
The personal insult comes from the fact that my grandmother has performed this since Cole Porter first introduced it, and everyone comes along and thinks they’re good enough- well, they’re not. Mr Bubbles included. BAH!
@MsMaynes You/ve got that right! LOL! “Ysabeau”
They’ve hit the wrong arrow:)
His voice has the sounds of the forties, smooth and lilting. I think he has great talent.

Your post made me cry. The song is truly perfection and one can’t help but be affected by it in such a beautiful way.

My Mam sang this song all her life. She died 2010 aged 89yrs, brings back good memories.
This is my favorite song…every version I have heard is good…he has a great smooth voice and does a good job……..sing on………..
Gracias !!!! FamilyRoyalty. Michael el mejor !!!!
Whether Michael Bublé sings “Begin the Beguine” better than Frank Sinatra, Julio Iglesias, etc., is not relevant. Thanks to FamilyRoyalty for uploading this beautiful Cole Porter composition. Mr. Bublé has a smooth and pleasant singing voice and does more than an admirable job of singing this beautiful song, as does Vic Damone.
From the album ‘Forever Swing: The Big Band Musical Revue’.
rubbish!
Michael Buble is a great performer!
