MOMMIE DEAREST AND MILDRED PIERCE ARE TWO OF MY FAVORITE MOVIES!! I THINK I HAVE WATCH THOSE MOVIES 100 TIMES A PIECE. I CAN TALK THRU THEM.
How in the hell can anyone turn a 2 hour movie into a 10 hour TV show???
Miss Joan Crawford. The Queen of Hollywood.
CLEAN THIS MESS UP!-Joan crawford
Joan Crawford OWNS that part. Kate Winslet may be awesome, but I still just can’t believe they re-did that movie. It was perfect the way it was.
And Mommie Dearest was written by Joan’s daughter and does not look favorably on Joan by any means. So why they suggested you read it while promoting her greatest film I will never know…
WINSLET? Wimpish? CRAWFORD = HUGE cahones and remains a woman!!!
Crawford lived this period and maybe there was more Vida in Joanie than Millie …..check out Joanie’s childhood … and EXACTLY what stepdad meant …
You destroyed the story, Mildred was supposed to look like a movies Star, not some one that did her laundry, Mommie dearest was LIES.
HOLLYWOOD DID IT NOT HBO< To Bad!
You destroyed the story, Mildred was supposed to look like a movies Star, not some one that did her laundry, Mommie dearest was LIES.
haha funniest thing ever, we have ran out of stories? i believe titanic was a british tragedy? LOTR BRITISH. HARRY POTTER…BRITISH. ROMEO AND JULIET BRITISH.COUNTLESS TEEN FIKMS BASED ON SHAKESPEARE; SHES THE MAN, 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT U, GET OVER IT ETC.
if you want to talk about nations using other nations art check out the brits, they have the best writer of all time which an uncountable amount of portrayals have been made. u have twilight
I’m sorry…I couldn’t believe how bizarre that announcer was…. when talking on camera, you’re meant to sound real, not like a mechanized store room dummy, with eyes bulging at every exclamation point!!! Now I’ll have to watch it again to hear what in the hell she said….Oh yes, Joan’s Mildred Pierce is a classic, I liked the mini series too, but felt Todd Haynes should’ve glamorized Kate Winslet a bit more, but the period detail is great. Do find the original book, its a fabulous read.
Mommie Dearest is a piece of trash written by a spoiled brat. I love Joan as Mildred Pierce and I must have watched it at least 5 times. I do want to see Kate Winslet in the part.
I am sorry to say this…..you can not remake a Joan Crawford classic!
Joan Crawford destroys Kate in the part…
so the Brits have no stories of their own to tell and have opted for taking over American stories
time for kate to take her one trick pony of the same old dramatic roles back home. she showed us all she can do in Tatanic and it’s time to put her career to sleep
i wan asee it just bcz kate winslet is in it…
i haven’t seen it, but i’m sure HBO had no trouble getting winslut to show her breasts.
or perhaps they tried to force her to keep her clothes on
any anal sex scenes?
this would be kate’s “mildred goes slut version”
as much as i hate the don’t know what the heck we’re doing old school of film acting, joan did fairly well compared to most.
despite there being no canon for the art, she always managed to deliver raw emotion.
so does mildred show her tits?
i’m just happy winslut has given up on insisting that the American public listen to her version of our accent.
I enjoyed BOTH versions. I’m curious, however, which movie is the closest to the ‘book’ version. As we know, in the HBO ‘Mildred Pierce,’ there is a ‘twist’ in the end concerning Vita, that differs from the 1945 version. Those of you who read the book, can you shead some light on this? (Without giving away the ending for those who haven’t yet seen it.) Thanks.
Joan Crawford by far!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!the best
It is suggested to watch Mommie Dearest for nothing more than to see how much the role of Mildred Pierce meant to Ms. Crawford. Although MD may or may not be an accurate account of her personal life, it is quite obvious in various accounts that Ms. Crawford did care deeply about her work, particularly for the Mildred Pierce film.
No way! Its just different. They werent the same. And Veda’s charachter was WAY better in the old version.
HBO’s version put a lot that the 1945 version didn’t. The 1945 version sanitizied, condensed, added and subtracted from the book. In the 1945 version, it really didn’t show the effect of the Great Depression while HBO’s version made it quite clear that the time frame was from 1931 to 1937. HBO did it better.
The new Mildred Pierce doesn’t even come close to the Joan Crawford version. HBO did a terrible job…not even close to the original! The original was full of suspence and intrigue. The new version was boring.
love Joan Crawford version the HBO movie was slow, the book was great!!!Fay Dunaway made a campy movie about Joan that i love… but i still love Joan! I used to work for a man that knew Joan and he said she was wonderful!!!!! that
is all i need to know!
