I may be wrong here, but Brain Wilson suffers from Tardive Dyskinesia, as a result of his medication taken during his years of heavy drug use. His shaking, slurred and rushed speech are an unfortunate consequence of TD, which you can see in as number of his other interviews. So sad!
Barry did make a public statement on his Homepage when Michael died.
“Fly away Butterfly” a part of Barry and Cliff Richard´s song ” I cannot give you my love”
@quarrybay456 Yes, the Jacksons and the Gibb brothers were good friends for years. I thought it strange that Barry did not make a public statement when Michael died. Nor did he (to my knowledge) show up at either of Michael’s funerals (public or private). Bizzare, but I assume he had his reasons. It is said that Barry spoke to Michael about “This is It” only a week before he passed. They were close. As you stated, Barry’s son was named after Michael, and Michael was his godfather.
I think Brian is so nervous because he’d essentially suffered a nervous breakdown a few years before. Brian has done a lot to try to overcome his physical and emotional challenges, and it’s not been easy. Amazing that he appears in public at all. Bravo to Brian, and so glad that he’s still alive. Based on all he’s been through, he really should be dead.
I agree with you. Isn’t it amazing that he “outlived” his brothers even though he went through the worst. Yet he managed to do what alot of 60″s Contemporaries did. Survive to tell the tale. Also, The Beach Boys were next to Stevie Wonder one of The Bee Gees biggest influences.
Brian has suffered from a lot of emotional and mental problems over the years including physical and emotional abuse from his father when he was a kid. He has also dabbled in drugs and all of this has destroyed his brain so he isn’t able to talk as well as he used to, but he is still a great guy, introducing a great group.
omg, my mother has made me listen to all of these songs….at the time I was annoyed but now I realized how talented they were as singers and writters and how TODAY we have very little talent…..except for Britney of course!
This is back when people became famous — because they could SING! Now people become famous just for the hell of it. Such a shame. Real talent means nothing anymore. I don’t mean to sound “old” because I’m really not — not even 40 yet. It’s just the truth. I believe in harmony and melody and singing on key — something the Bee Gees and The Jackson 5 and Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson and Elvis etc. understood. Nuff said.
Best group ever – they were so talented. I love Barry’s chuckle.
Brian Wilson is so nervous he can’t hold his piece of paper still.
Great to see this, thanks for posting it!

But none of them know how to read or write musical notes. They admitted it in another interview. But boy could they write songs!
It shouldn’t have taken so long!!! Congratulations Boys. I’m standing and clapping. You deserve it.
