It’s past carnival extent. I am there often. Many fans are fed up with it.
In 69 was a simple 2 piece that resembled a karate suit. Loved. The belt had to be sewn into place with all the movement of Elvis.Then in 70 went with the 1 piece with little adornment for ease of movement. If it stayed similar to 70 until the end I think it would have served him better as the impersonator’s do their “take” on Elvis as he was in the last 2 years and he was not a healthy man.They, in turn, look ridiculous. He sometimes wore pants and shirt on stage. Sometimes 2 piece leather.
The jumpsuit was part of his act……..staying dressed as in the 60′s…..he had to change with time……..not try and hold on to the style of his past…..

Elvis liked ONLY Andy Kaufman, who had a whole funny act besides Elvis. Elvis would be horrified at what’s out there. I feel sorry for his memory. These impersonator’s are nothing like Elvis. Contests been going on during Elvis week for years, just not the one you’re specifically talking about. Btw, I’ve been to Elvis Week every year since 2002. You will find me in my jumpsuit every day that i hand make and put each of the individual nailheads in and work for hours and hours on. It IS a tribute. As Elvis said: Imitation is the sincerest form of flatter. Plus I just think the jumpsuits rock!:)
Name a falsehood. I have been going to EW for many years. When it changed was Sillerman buying 85% of EPE from Lisa and proceeded to have imposters have a contest during EW. There’s a group who go for that fiasco, but the true fans have no part of it. It’s sad to us that he allows this during a week to honor Elvis. Seems this year it will be after EW. Not sure of the schedule yet. That contest will be the downfall of EW if it continues. Many fans hate it. Hate seeing “them” around Graceland.

Tribute artist?? That would be someone who pays tribute to Elvis. That would be Terry Mike Jeffrey and a few others like him him who DO NOT try to imitate Elvis. They only sing his songs in tribute to a great man. They don’t mimic.
Impersonator’s (imitator’s) are the fools who actually think they can be like Elvis. NO ONE can ever be anything like Elvis. It’s a wasted effort on the impersonator’s part and they are mostly laughed at by many of the fans.
