@historyris27 Ann Wilson isn’t the writer of this song. Billie Steinberg and Tom Kelly of the band i-ten wrote the song. They presented to Ann and Nancy.
Ann the artist she is sounds as good as ever, you can feel emotion in the words when she sings it. Being the writer she understands the deap emotion in the lyrics. Carrie has a fantastic voice but is emotionaly detatched from the lyrics. Its like a spoiled child thats just given something to play with. No real love because it didnt spawn from her like a crying newborn baby. This song all by itself proves what amazing artists Heart is. And there is more where this came from.
carrie is so respectful, even though she can easily out-sing ann, she doesnt…i love both of them!
@ 2:34 : “Take a step back kid, this is how its done.”
@darchylde612 totally and completely agree!!!
It’s not about Ann “owning” Carrie, or Carrie “not holding a candle to Ann.” Ann Wilson is hands down the greatest female Rock vocalist to this point, and Carrie has a beautiful Country/Pop crossover voice. Two different singers coming together for one great performance.
I love carrie but she doesnt hold a candle to Ann Wilson. Still great vid thx.
Ann Wilson’s voice is so powerful. Out does Carrie’s by a mile!!
Carrie Underwood sings well but she had to step aside to let Ann hit the high note at 2:30 and her face was “shit, I wish I could do that…”
@Fredrock1982
Definitely one of the greatest female rock vocalists of all time! Even today, she still is EXCELLENT.
@lasktguy Ann Wilson does very well for a 60-some y/o singer but she is not the singer she was when “Alone” first came out. But even then Charice was better due to the fact that her vocal range is greater. To put it in another way, Charice can sing Ann’s songs, but Ann can’t sing Charice’s songs. Ann certainly belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and I would not have even mentioned Charice except for Fredrock stating that Ann is the greatest female vocalist of all time.
@khatman100 Cherise does a good version but in no way is it as good as Ann’s.
@TheSquidd0 I don’t know why Charice and Ann Wilson singing “Alone” can’t be compared. Other than the fact that Ann Wilson sings with a band and Charice uses a backing track, the lyrics are the same and if you close your eyes the sound is very close for most part.
@khatman100 I am a fan of Charice but you cannot compare Ann Wilson to Charice as far as Alone goes. Its a rock ballad Charice turned it into a pop standard.
Great version. Love Carrie Underwood, love Heart. Three great voices (even though Nancy doesn’t sing on this) – check out Ann with the harmonies.
What are we fighting about they both kick ass!
2.30………….wait for it,
2.34 Ms.Underwood would have a hard time matching that!
I really enjoyed this. Great duet
@Fredrock I don’t know if Ann Wilson is the greatest female vocalist of all time. Certainly there are others that can match Ann, especially with their classic “Alone”. For instance, the young fillipina, Charice, does “Alone” as good if not better than Ann, even in her heyday back in the late 80′s and early 90′s. Here is Charice @ age 16. She’s 19 now and ever better.

ANN is still very talented and beautiful
What the hell is the beep beep in the background?!?!?!
…..damn…can’t believe how people can be picky in everyway ! …just simple words : we all know how Ann was at her best , and we have the chance to see her again performing, in this case with another signer whis was astonishing , imo , and lets be honest here…….. HONEST I mean ….. WHO ? who, those who already knew this song , AND somehow liked it , WHO ? Did not await THAT part of the song where she pushes it ????????? ….37 here , this pitch will always makes me fly !!!
@sergeiparajanov…You’re kidding right??? Sorry but Ann’s voice is no where near what it was in the past…watch the video of Heart doing this song in the 80′s…much tighter… You could drive a Mac truck through Ann’s vibrato now…Carrie held her own…
Kinda nice to see the Professionals and the newby’s together once in awhile.
Reminds everyone of what professionalism is really about.
ROCK ON HEART!!!
No matter how much better a new singer is singing the song, its not the same hearing it from the singer that we grew up to listening.
