Fourteen Days Later was short listed for the Harry Bowling Prize 2008 and received a Highly Commended by the Yeovil Literary Prize 2009. It is a romantic comedy with a unique infusion of British and Turkish Cypriot culture. Written in a similar style to Marian Keyes, it is My Big Fat Greek Wedding meets Bridget Jones.
When accident-prone Helen Grey finds a thong stuffed into the pocket of her boyfriend’s best work trousers, it’s time for her to move on. His excuse that he needed to dust the photocopier and just thought that it was a rag sounds like a lame excuse.
Helen’s life is propelled in an unexpected direction after her best friend, Ayshe, sets her a fourteen-day, life-changing challenge. Helen receives a task everyday wh

Amusing and Delightful Light-Hearted Read!,
This is a light-hearted, cheery, brilliant, one-of-a-kind story. If you’re in the mood for some light brit-chick-lit, this will take your mind away into another dimension and just make you smile…a lot! Helen is a character that one could truly love–she is honest, caring, and naïve at times, but nevertheless, just so lovely. The story starts out with her in a mournful funk after breaking up with her no-good, cheater boyfriend. She hibernates from the world of fun by brooding over her looser love (so she thinks). Until one day, her best friend Ayshe gets her out of this funk by challenging her to a 14-day of just doing off-the-wall events, which opens up doors for a more exciting adventure in life. That’s where the fun begins.
Helen is a klutz magnified by 100%. Her situations and mishaps are amusing, and her challenges throughout the 14-days are so whacky. During these 14-days, Helen is exposed more and more to her friend’s brother Kalem (Helen grew up with both of them after her parents had passed when she was a child). Throughout their chance meetings, Kalem is constantly throwing sarcastic remarks Helen’s way and jabbing at her antics, which really feels very endearing to me. .. so very playful, like a brother and sister banter. Of course, you will find out at the end of the book why he teases her every move. The tension of the attraction they both have for each other throughout the book really makes this story come to life. It’s just very down to earth, realistic happenstance.
It’s not a typical romance novel: it does not have all that hot-steamy-trashy frolic in it (which I do read). It’s more energy-producing anticipation, smiling constantly, leading up to that happily-ever-after. It’s an extremely enjoyable read: It’s just too fun of story and plot to pass up. I highly recommend it, you won’t regret it. Furthermore, I really enjoyed Sibel Hodge’s writings so much so that I am now reading the sequel “The Perfect Wedding”.

|Witty and entertaining,
A well-meaning friend, a fourteen-day change-your-life-challenge and a dog named Pussy… What could possibly go wrong?
I haven’t enjoyed a good rom-com like this for ages. Vivid characterisations with loads of laugh out loud moments made for a fun, witty and most entertaining read.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for some light relief.

|A Fun romance!,
This was a hilarious romance! I truly was laughing out loud while reading this one. This author has a really great sense of humor that shows in her writing.
The storyline was entertaining and funny; the characters were unique, colorful, and relatable. I had a hard time putting this one down because I never knew what funny catastrophe or line would come next.
For example: (The main character has just gone to the grocery store for “singles” shopping.)
“It must have had a bit missing somewhere as it made a loud squealing noise like a mouse on ecstasy. The only way to steer it in a straight line was to try and twist it in a diagonal manner so it looked like I was purposely heading towards people, like a kamikaze shopper.”
If you are looking for some light and fun romance then I would say to check this one out. I’m glad I read it!
