The Columbus zoo and Aquarium has the 2011 Guinness Book of World Records Longest Snake and Oldest Gorilla. It is the country’s Top Rated Zoo. It is record breaking for many reasons. It also contains the continent’s largest Asian elephant the world’s largest elephant enclosure and the world’s largest polar bear habitat. Jack Hanna, the world’s most famous zoo director, appears on many TV shows including David Lettreman. The Wilds is the largest facility of its kind in North America. It was named by the USA Travel Guide as the number one zoo in America in 2009 and it has a worldwide reputation. It is well-known its director emeritus Jack Hanna, world’s most famous zoo director. In 2009, It is home to over 5000 animals representing over 700 species and over 1.8 million visitors annually. The animal exhibits are divided into regions of the world, with eight such regions. In addition the zoo owns an 18-hole golf course, known as Safari Golf Club, Zoombezi Bay, and Jungle Jack’s Landing. Both are located just south of the zoo. It is associated with the Wilds in Zanesville Ohio and a bonobo project in the Congo. The zoo owns 580 acres. Additional projects include the zoo supports include the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, the International Elephant Foundation, and the Ohio Wildlife Center.
