Elvis Presley Green Green Grass of Home
Elvis Presley Green, Green Grass of Home Written by Claude (Curly) Putnam, Jr. Elvis recorded it March 11, 1975. The old home town looks the same, As I step down from the train, And there to meet me is my mama and papa Down the road I look and there runs Mary Hair of gold and lips like cherries It’s good to touch the green, green grass of home Yes, they’ll all come to meet me, Arms reaching, smiling sweetly Oh It’s good to touch the green, green grass of home The old house is still standing, Though the paint is cracked and dry And there’s that old oak tree that I used to play on Yeah Down the lane I walk with my sweet Mary Hair of gold and lips like cherries It’s good to touch the green, green grass of home Yes, they’ll all come to meet me, Arms reaching, smiling sweetly Oh It’s good to touch the green, green grass of home Then I awake and look around me Four gray walls that surround me And I realize that I was only dreamin’ There’s a guard and there’s a sad old padre Arm and arm we’ll walk at daybreak Again I’ll touch the green, green grass of home Yes, they’ll all come to see me In the shade of that old oak tree As they lay me beneath the green, green grass of home

Awesome song, Johnny Cash sings the same one. R.I.P. Elvis & Johnny! I love you both…
Elvis poured his heart and soul with that heavenly voice in each and every song~Beautiful~
thumbs up! all i got….
we love you elvis krol jest tylko jeden elvis pozdrawiam
Thats the really sad part of it all. When I saw Elvis in March of 74 I paid 10 dollars.Today you have to take out a freakin loan to go to a concert by performers who dont have a fraction of the talant that Elvis had !
Well I guess I was wrong it opened in 1982 too late for too many. On and around 8/16/11 I realized I’m a alcoholic and addicted to a lot of prescription medications in high doses. So I stopped drinking cold turkey and went into DT’s and stopped my meds went to bed around 8/15-8/16 and didn’t get up again till 9/6/11 when my 21 year old daughter realized something was wrong. She works has a boyfriend she stays with a lot and school by the time she noticed I was nearly dead my kidneys stopped fun
Nothing like a good cry I guess such a waste and loss to the world even those who deny him for the rest of us love him more than enough for you too. I don’t know why “his friends” didn’t help him or why Linda Thompson didn’t stay to help him. The Betty Ford Clinic was open in Palm Springs then where he owned two homes. Well I guess it’s easier to get what you want from someone who is inebriated with prescription drugs. Elvis and I have this problem in common but a epiphany came to me right bef
@billythedoggie so beautiful that you can share your lovely emotions my love. Bygones are certainly that….
ELVIS SANG AS NO OTHER HAS OR EVER WILL. A VOICE LIKE HIS WILL NEVER AGAIN BE HEARD. A MAN LIKE NO OTHER.. YOU WERE AND ALWAYS WILL BE THE KING OF ROCK AND ROLL……
2:30 – 2:42. Proof that Elvis’ voice is the best there ever was.
@nauort23 Well said
Jesus is the TRUTH.
@slovanprofessor Another one giving America all the credit for sex and substance abuse.., as if we invented it. How about racism? We invented that, too, right? As far as Elvis Presley being a reflection of American culture, you got that right. He was the best at what he did, and he has been immitated by millions all over the world–and still is. He didn’t gain the admiration of millions because he was born to a titled family, nor were his flaws a secret. That’s as American as it gets.
A song like this hasn’t ever really been sung until Elvis has sung it.
I love this song. very nice beautiful
Another slide show, well done, nice sync of parents photo with lyrics and ” And there to meet me is my moma and my papa ” and were the heck to you find theses never seen before Photo’s anyway like that one of Elvis walking of the train that’s got to be a pretty new photo !
YES YOU ARE EVERY THING YOU SAID ABOUT HIM, HE SURE IS MISSED
There will never be a Elvis again! He is the one and only of any singer out there! no one can touch him. He just got caught up in all the mess. If he would have handled it better, he could have dealt with the fame. But he gave us something that no one will ever give us again, His Voice! god blessed him with the talent he had, I do believe that he is in heaven!
Une des plus belles chansons contre la guerre…et chantée par Elvis elle devient magique
i love this song, aways makes me cry & miss the ppl i lost
@billythedoggie When you visit his homestead in Memphis, TN it feels pretty weird. A man who meant so much for us is dead and all his glory turned to nothing for him – only vanity. The prayer for his salvation is teh only thing we can do for him. What I said in my first message is: he is not the only one to blame, this madness from entertainment- business and culture of blind money making is dangareous for people. He is only a product of this culture. This country needs healing.
@slovanprofessor what your saying is that elvis was a result of a marketable genus all out to milk the sweet coins of the many fans that loved his singing, looks, showmanship, and his all around talent to make us feel good..like i said..he was worth every dime we spent on him…i remember seeing his first movie…love me tender i think i paid twenty five cents..or less…the Catholic church warns us not to see his movies, most parents worried about the influence he was having on the teens..
aku sangat suka lagu dan irama ini
@billythedoggie he is reflection of american culture. for business sake everything is allowed. the real life is different but holywood sells what it can, sex, drugs, alcohol anything what goes.
Golliwogg APPROVES of this song.
