Bad Printing,
I ordered this book for my granddaughter but it ended up being a let down. The book wasn’t printed correctly. It jumped from page 8 up to 25, where it continued on to page 30 and then jumped back down to page 22, where it then continued to around page 40 and then jumped again to page 57. So, there were duplicates of some songs, while other songs were either totally missing or only partially in the book. I contacted the Hal Leonard (Publisher) company to make them aware of this issue and only got back a rude reply. I guess they want customers to be their quality control department…
I would stay away from the book, if you want the songs (or have a child that does), just find them online and order the ones you want that way.

|Great family fun,
I ordered this book for my 8 year old daughter and we play a few songs each night. I found it to be easy to play, the guitar charts are easy and fun. it has been a great bonding experience for us both as well as Taylor being a great role model. ( she writes her own music).

|Seems like an Easy Piano songbook,
I own the P/V/G songbook for Taylor Swift’s first self-titled album, but held out a long time to buy the Fearless sheet music book due to one reviewer’s unfortunate run-in with a misprinted book. Ordering it this December, I was relieved, however, that my book was fully in tact with all the pages included and in correct order.
As a pianist, I knew this book probably catered more to guitar players given that Taylor wrote these as guitar songs, but I wanted to have the official sheet music for the album, since chords on the Internet often don’t give you the original keys. Unfortunately, the Fearless songbook was slightly disappointing because even as the ‘official’ songbook for this album, there are five — yes, FIVE — songs not presented in their original keys, but instead transposed a step higher to easy keys with only one or two flats/sharps. This is a common tactic used in sheet music translation to ‘dumb down’ the song for mediocre piano players or those who don’t want a challenge. While the songs become easier to play this way, unfortunately it robs most of us of the opportunity to play the real version that Taylor Swift recorded (and makes playing along with the CD completely dischordant). For example, “Breathe” (co-written by Taylor Swift with Colbie Caillat) is by far the most artistic and beautiful song on the album, but it loses its depth in this transposed version. The book presents it in the key of D with F# and C#, though it was originally recorded a half step lower).
The songs that are presented in the songbook in a key different from their original recordings are:
Hey Stephen
You Belong with Me
Breathe
You’re Not Sorry (sounds pretty close to the original key, but it’s an uncalled for change nonetheless)
The Best Day
In general, the songbook reads sort of like an “Easy Piano” songbook, which perhaps reflects the simplicity of Taylor’s songs (again, then why did they have to change the keys?) The songs tend to have the melodies directly in the piano treble clef line which is a bit dumb — as opposed to piano accompaniment, which is what I normally prefer since the top vocal line already presents the melody notes).
The positive? At least the following songs sound decent here, and are presented in their original keys: Fearless, Love Story, White Horse (especially on piano), Forever and Always. Overall, as a PIANO sheet music book it’s just sorta meh — it’s not one I’ll be enthusiastically practicing a lot but I still enjoy having it in my sheet music library. As a guitar book though, it probably fares better.
