i heard this played over a film of the challenger space shuttle disaster back in january of 1986 … it’s a very powerful song on its own but it was devastating combined with the images of challenger exploding in the sky, particularly the ominous opening keyboards and thunder … a strangely suitable accompaniment to the sudden disaster … and then the moving words … to me there is no other guitar player who can move you with the beauty and lyricism of his playing like mark knopfler …
