It was a “typical” Cal City sunset load; as it should have been. Blue Skies to Skydive California City and all the folks that used to jump and/or just hang out there. We sure all miss the place.

What you propose is giving power to the people in the fight for water, well that’s fine, but the environmental groups are trying to save the future of this state. I was an AFF Jumpmaster back in the mid 80′s at Cal City. Worked with Billy Reed, Bob Celia (Prob’ly spelled wrong) The Venerable Jay Schumacher, My Brother and Best Friend to this Day, Mark Hewitt. And of course, Van & Alberta, who put up with more than their fair share of sillyness from me, Mark, Jay, Ursula, and Dennis. For a short while I lived in the company of Kings. I will miss you all

I happened by the place a few days back on, 1 Jan 2010, after going shooting at near-point with YoBo and Bob Sthal. The hangar still sits empty, but it looked like the windows that had been broken out in one of the classrooms got fixed. Also, Jerry Budnick, one of his sons and a friend were about riding dirt bikes. Guess we all can’t get the place out of our systems. I’m starting to wonder if that’s sad?
I did six jumps back in 95 at Cal City. Great place. Friendly people. This video was nicely done. Thanks for sharing it.
Great video. Professionally done. I did six jumps back in 95 at Cal City. Good memories of some great people. The people I remember were Billy Reed, Wade and I think Bob ran the operation. I did my AFF with a guy that had an English accent. I heard maybe he had an accident a few years after 95 when I jumped with him. My memories are fond of Cal City skydive. The instructors were the best. the place had heart. Again thanks for the great video.

I started working out there in 93 and left in 95. Had a blast. Sorry to see it go. Remember my first jump as if it were yesterday. Some really great memories… Diane

blues skies, black kevin…..lol oh well….. i miss it too. i went out there a while back & shocked to see an empty hanger with an otter serving absolutely no purpose what so ever, just outside the hanger doors & i can only remember what junior said to his father van one day in the past, “what are you going to do with this place once the skydivers are gone?” & i saw they had been building further down the road, I thought, damn shame to see it end. long live the peckerheads!

I called Cal City my west-coast home-away-from-home, and already myself, for so relatively infrequently I found myself able to get out there still, missing the place so incredibly now, none-the-less. Saw a lot of familiar faces in those opening and closing stills, and I wish all of them (and you), who always made even us transient visitors, when we stopped by, truly feel like FAMILY!
