The American rock band, Paramore, has brought this fantasy-fairy tale look to its cultural world. From the pearls, to the bows, to the fun-spinning petticoat, they move this Lolita lifestyle further into its own cultural world. Singer Hayley was seen in a Lolita Jumper-skirt, a Bodyline design, along with a petticoat. It was happily worn with a pair of Mary-Jane shoes, frilled ankle socks, and completed with the Lolita hairstyle. The style is toned down in the video, she is confident in showing off her flair for the Lolita fashion.
Lady Gaga’s large hair and pieces present her own flair for the alternative Lolita headdress. Lady Gaga’s love lead her to Harajuku dressed in Lolita fashions. Complete with the makeup and sunglasses ensemble.
It’s a bold step to take on a big look like the Lolita look provides. Yet with this look comes a sense of self-confidence, self-identity, and individuality. Even if the look itself seems a bit alarming, the message of self-worth allows girls to be themselves a little more, without losing a sense of modern fashion.
